History Of DMC&H

1934

Dr. Banarsi Das Soni's Vision

Dr. Banarsi Das Soni, a former I.M.S. Captain, envisioned a medical school pre-1934 to train doctors and provide healthcare, driven by his dedication to medical education and patient care.

1936

Transition to Arya Samaj Management

In 1936, Arya Samaj, Ludhiana, under Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Punjab, took over the institution. It was supervised by a separate administrative body of Arya High School, Ludhiana, ensuring structured management and growth.

1937

Relocation to Own Premises

In 1937, the institution relocated to its own building, which later became known as the Old Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, marking a significant step in its growth and development.

1938

Recognition and Name Change

In 1938, the institution gained recognition for LSMF (Licentiate in State Medical Faculty) and was permitted to operate an affiliated hospital, leading to its renaming as "Dayanand Hospital."

1964

Transformation into MBBS College

In 1964, the institution was upgraded to a full-fledged MBBS college in accordance with government regulations, and it was officially named Dayanand Medical College, marking a significant milestone in its evolution.

2025

Formation of Managing Society

The institution is managed by a distinguished group from Ludhiana under the "Managing Society of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital," with the late Sh. H. R. Dhanda as its founding president. Presently, it is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), affiliated with BFUHS, Faridkot, and admits 100 students annually into the MBBS course, reflecting its esteemed status in medical education.
